Access participating in DFG’s New Collaborative Research Centres

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has approved the establishment of 13 new Collaborative Research Centres (CRCs, SFB, Sonderforschungsbereich). This was decided by the responsible DFG Grants Committee at its spring session in Bonn. The new CRCs will receive a total of 93.1 million euros in funding for an initial period of three years and nine months.

Access is participating in the new Collaborative Research Centre "Precision Manufacturing by Controlling Melt Dynamics and Solidification in Production Processes". The objective is to understand, on a multiscale, and control the behaviour of the molten mass from melting to melt flow and solidification. This will create the prerequisites for greater precision and the avoidance of process errors in and on components produced using melting technology.
