New Managing Director at Access e.V. and access technology GmbH: A personal message from the outgoing MD

May 30 will mark the 30th anniversary of Access!

Open letter: From the very first day, my efforts have been directed at nurturing Access and shaping its future. Thanks to a hard-working, flexible and creative team, Access has succeeded in becoming a leading locomotive of research in the field of metal solidification and its related processes. Today, those looking for answers to issues related to this field very often call upon us at Access. Having celebrated my 65th birthday February last means that I will be retiring from both Access e.V. and access technology GmbH with effect from 30 May 2016. I wish to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude for the marvellous support I have been given over the last three decades: help provided by scientific colleagues, experts from the industry and also people from the world of politics. Without this support Access would never have achieved the notable success we are proud of today. For this sustained support over the years this is the time simply to say: “thank-you.” Your valuable assistance made it possible for me to undertake my mission at Access, and also helped motivated me through the less easy moments. My successor will be Dr. Andre Schievenbusch, who has already been a member of the executive board since 2001, a man who in my estimation has the necessary expertise to continue the success story at Access. We have done everything possible to make sure that this transition would be planned and completed as smoothly as possible, and I wish to express my confidence that Dr. Schievenbusch will prove to be a reliable captain at the helm of the good ship Access. I am confident that you will be happy to place the same trust in him as you did in me. Managing Access and meeting all the challenges which come with the job has been something which I have very much enjoyed. To my successor, I can only wish „bon voyage“; as he embarks on his mission in shaping a successful future for Access: may he benefit from that little spark of luck of which each of us, from time to time, has need. I close in thanking all those who have generously supported me along the way at Access. Yours sincerely, Robert Guntlin.
