A novel high strength duplex alloy

Access presents a novel high strength duplex alloy: NADEAAM

NADEAAM is a high-entropy alloy designed for direct energy deposition as an attractive alternative to duplex steels. Unlike duplex steels, NADEAAM is sigma-free allowing for a wide variety of heat treatments. The chemical composition ensures a robust processing window, a well-equilibrated microstructure and a convenient strength/ductility balance. After DED processing and annealing NADEAAM reaches a yield strength above 600 MPa, an ultimate tensile strength of 1100 MPa and a total elongation of 27%. Furthermore, excellent wear resistance and a good corrosion resistance are achieved.

The duplex alloy, DED processing parameters and materials properties were developed in the frame of the joint M-era.Net project “NADEA”. Research partners are Access e. V., Fraunhofer ILT, Technion Israel Institute of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology, KU Leuven, Otto Junker GmbH and Oerlikon AM GmbH.

The NADEAAM data-sheet is issued by Access e.V. and Fraunhofer ILT. Potential application fields are oil and gas, off-shore, mining and chemical industries.
