Access present at Berlin Air Show, Hall 3/Stand 3222

Access again member of the Joint Stand of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

At the Berlin Air Show (11. – 16. September) Access presents for the second time its R&D results in the field of low pressure turbine blades made of TitaniumAluminid. The main focus is on the presentation of the closed process chain which has been set up at Access Aachen location, aimed at low-cost production of low pressure turbine blades made of TiAl, a high-performance material. To enable the series production of TiAl turbine blades, material and process qualification has been performed. The introduction of TiAl for the next generation of jet engines is an important milestone towards achieving the targets for pollutant and noise emission defined in the ACARE Vision 2020. TiAl low pressure turbine blades as a substitute for twice-as-heavy Nickel-based alloy blades are already finding application in commercial jet engines (GenX by General Electric).
