ACCESS scientists receive APDIC award

Best publication in the field of phase equilibria and thermodynamics in 2011

In a short ceremony on Monday 10th of September 2012 at Access, Professor Dr. Rainer Schmid-Fetzer, the German representative of APDIC – the Alloy Phase Diagram International Commission – presented the APDIC Best Paper Award 2012. APDIC is an international consortium comprising 17 member organizations representing 20 countries. Major objectives of APDIC – amongst others - are the international coordination and the establishment of high quality standards in the field of phase diagrams. To promote activities of phase diagram related work, APDIC annually awards its Best Paper Award to authors being judged to have made the best publication in the field of phase equilibria and thermodynamics. For this purpose articles being published in a number of journals like e.g. J. Phase Equilibria and Diffusion, Metall. Mater. Trans. A + B, International Journal of Materials Research, Calphad, J. Alloys & Compounds and Intermetallics are critically reviewed to identify the best publication in the field during the previous year. Only a single publication is selected each year. The APDIC Best Paper Award 2012 for the best paper in 2011 has been awarded to Victor T. Witusiewicz and Ulrike Hecht (both Access) and Anatolii A. Bondar and Tamara Y. Velikanova (both Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science, Kiev, Ukraine) for their article “Phase Equilibria in Binary and Ternary Systems with Chemical and Magnetic Ordering”, which appeared in the Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion Volume 32 issue 4 (2011)329-349.
